Just as the mythical Phoenix flew as high as it possibly could, burst into flame and then arose reborn from the ashes…the same phenomenon occurs with musicians and the bands they perform in. Phoenix Rising appears fresh and new as the result of it’s members performing together in various combinations over the past 30 years.
This group is all about the stories, and stories are what you get with their original material, culled from their individual and collective observations of life. Whether it’s the high mournful old-country sound of Dennis Nelson, the storytelling baritone of Tom Tower, the vocal and instrumental virtuosity of Tim Crosby or the high energy sincerity of Kathy Boyd herself, this band offers something for everyone.
With a sound that brings together the best of bluegrass, cowboy, folk, country, Americana, jug band and some incredibly talented songwriting, Kathy Boyd & Phoenix Rising offers a sound that is clean, hard driving and uniquely their own.
